Future of Europe v2

Seeing the high interest of this subject and the high view rate of my first video I would like you to help me create a more accurate and more realistic second version of Future of Europe map. I have read all comments related to the first video (all of them) and I realize that there is some mistake on that. I've missed some changes that can occur in the future, and there is changes that is not really possible to appear.

So I'm waiting for some comments on this blog (a more readable place) to know what needs to be changed on this video.

63 comments:

  1. Why do all these Youtube videos give south-east France to Italy? It's totally random. Check out the maps for the Occitan language and the Franco-Provençal language on wikipedia (which are subgroups of French) and you'll notice that of all things it's north-western Italy which should be given to France.

Also, the separation in languages for Switzerland is a little off and perhaps Galicia (Spain) should be given to Portugal.

  2. I'd also suggest Corsica independent from France (they seem much more inclined for independence than Brittany), and perhaps eventually united with Sardinia (and Southern Italy), and a good old Germany/Austria reunification.

    1. sardinia is not linked with southern italy, they know that they lack the strength to held sardinians

  3. You're right. Southern France is a little bit exaggerated. Certainly I will remove that part.

  4. The Scottish Nationalist Party is growing by leaps and bounds. I'm sure they will declare independence much sooner than 2060. Likewise, the Catholic population is over taking the Protestants in Northern Ireland. Under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement, they can have a referendum for independence very soon.

  5. It is far more likely that n.ireland will go to Scotland than go to the republic of ireland. The majority of the northern irish are (recent) migrants from scotland and northern england. And concidering the republic of ireland is bankrupt, and scotland is on the edge of a second industrial and more importantly oil boom... they are actualy quite likely to join scotland within the nrxt 40 years.

  6. Portugal should receive, Galiza, the eo-navian region and Olivenza!

As for Catalunya it should actually be the Catalan Countries (look up in wikipedia)

Switzerland was always a landmark so it should not be touched...

As for germany you should anex austria and czech republic, southern denmark, a big chunk of poland, and alsace-lorraine, oh and a bit of belgium and all of luxembourg

  7. Bavaria should be independent°!°

  9. there is no reason for annex sudetland by G/A when this area as the area with big germany minority don´t exist for a long time from WWII and except this tiny period of the WWII was the part of Bohemia for all the history...

  16. I don't think that Switzerland will be taken by any country. And, such occasions could not happen due to the existence of European Union. For these, first, EU should be dissolved.

That's why, according to today, these are seeming so much "fantasy"!

  17. French Catalonia and Andorra join Southern Catalonia.

  18. Galicia gets the independence at the same time than Catalonia and the Basque Country. Today it's the only one iberian country where spanish or portuguese are not the most spoken languages.

  21. 1. Belarus-Lithuania-Poland
What is the reason behind splitting Belarus in two? I strongly believe that Russia would not allow Western Belarus go to Poland even if the local population would want to (I am from Belarus myself). Chronologically, it would make more sense to see southern Lithuania go to Poland earlier, although it is highly improbable since there are only like 7% of Poles in Lithuania and Lithuania is part of the EU.

    2. As to Switzerland: I join all the other opinions against its dismemberment - it won't let its independence and strategically most countries of Europe are interested in it being independent. It has been there since the 13th century, so no reason to fall apart now.

  22. Western area of Ukraine (including Lviv)and Vilnius in 1920-1939 was in Poland before attack of Wehrmacht and Red Army in September 1939. Today this two areas are one of the greatest concentrations of Poles in Europe (not Polonia). So it would be nice to recover this areas (it was a dream of Polish solidiers)

  23. Denmark, Norway and Sweden fusing into United Nordic federation, possibly Finland and Iceland too.

  24. Southern sweden (the scania region) is getting very much closer to the Danish capitol Copenhagen - many Danes live in the region, and many swedes work in copenhagen. I believe that very soon scania will be very much integrated into denmark

    ReplyDelete
  25. Also, very soon regions of France will declare themselves an independent moslem republic. Especially the southern parts.

I believe that in the european union there will be space for much more independence - Spain will be totally split up, and it will happen at approxiamtely the same time for all the possible provences.

Bavaria independent yes - switzerland included in any other country no

    1. NO Bavaria independent. Switzerland has a linguistic problem so Switzerland's lands will annex to other countries.

You have a mistake, FYROM cant get Makedonia from Hellas (Greece) maybe it could be the opposite. And how about merging Cyprus we speak the same Language and we trade army. Also you can think about something for Constantinople (Istabul) both names are Hellenic.

    Thank you.

  29. I think basque country's independence would have 3 stages: the first the independence of EAE (euskal autonomi erkidegoa, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and Araba), the joining of northern Navarre (Baztan...) and posterior union of the mid-part (Iruña-Pamplona) and finally the Northern Basque Country (Zuberoa-Soule, Nafarroa Behera-bas Navarre and Lapurdi-Labourd)

    And please erase the dates...

  32. Northern Transylvania and Banat should stay to Romania. South Banat to Romania. South Dobroja to Romania.Luxemburg to France. Corsica become independent.Old Basarabia (South Ukraine) to Romania. Cyprus to Turkey. Slovenia to Croatia. Western Czech to Germany. Austria to Germany. Italy shouldn't split in two.

  33. Trieste, Gorica, Istria & Northern Croatia return to Slovenia which is then reintegrated into Austria. Western Poland to Germany & eastern Russia to Poland. Western Czech to Germany. Switzerland stays intact.

  34. 1. I think the Luxembourg region in Luxembourg should go to France.
    2. Liechenstein should be part of Switzerland
    3. The Overjissel region in Netherlands could be part of Germany.
    4. Alsace remains French.
    5. The Bavarian region in Germany should be part of Germany

  35. I am from Croatia and I think that Istria and Dalmatia should become part of Italy. Why? I live in Split(Dalmatia) and we hate all of those from Zagreb, north and east Croatia. We have a lot of words from Italian language and it's really hard to speak with those for example from Međimurje(boarders with Hungary,it was Hungarian). We are more Meditenerian while they are cental Europe. Nobody is saying anything about that in Dalmatia because they are scared of gouverment. They totally destroyed us.

  37. Hi, I have sent a comment in your video on Youtube. I have seen this / here now. I am a Turkish futurolog. I have written a Turkish text about this /your video. I need some information about it for using as database and attaching to the my original text. Your assumptions, your information framework, etc. My e-mail is rehaulku@gmail.com. Thank you now on. I do not care whether your predictions will happen or not, but I am interested in how you think during making these assumptions and predictions. You may ask me any kind of question too.

    Switzerland out of Garmany.
    Austria to Garmany.

  39. I am a Hungarian from Romania. I lived in Belgium and I currently live in Switzerland. My opinion:
    Romanian-Moldovan unity: plausible.
Bukovina joining Romania: I see no reason. As far as i can tell it does not live as a Romanian territory in the minds of Romanians and also the population is mostly Ukranian-speaking by now.
Northern Transylvania to Hungary: not likely.
Southern Slovakia to Hungary: not likely. Also, by the date you predicted there will be no Hungarians living there due to assimilation (not forced). Dear Hungarian commenters from Slovakia: I am not talking about you losing your identity, but your grandchildren.
Belgium splitting up: likely. Flanders joining The Netherlands: very unlikely.
    Switzerland splitting up: extremely unlikely.
The video shows quite good insight on certain things, but in only takes into account what people want right now. I believe that we are growing towards a global society, and in 200 years not only Slovakian and Transylvanian Hungarians will disappear, but all nations as we know them. With travel and international cooperation blurring borders and identities. Of yourse, my views may also be distorted because of my multicultural environment. If I would live in a village 30 kilometers from anyone who speaks at least a second language, I would certainly view things differently.

  40. Its nonsence to annex Sudetland to Germany and Austria. I was born and I live in Sudetland, there is practically no people with german nationality or language. We all speak in czech language. Also historically Sudetland was allways part of Bohemian kingdom (now Czech Republic) borders. See video bellow

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SK7YmwuVak

After WW2 all german speaking population was forced out. Even when majority of these people wanted to stay. Adolf Hittler used german speaking minority with Czechoslovakia citizenship as exuse to expand reichs territory. So please correct this error. Becouse im proud to be czech so i would never ever let someone to steal even part of ours small territory. So more realistic would be to leave our borders alone or let czech republic dissapear completely, which is by my opinion unreal too (maybe temporarly), becouse many times someone want to add our territory and destroy our culture (Habsburg monarchy for 300 years - they failed, Third Reich terror for 3 years - failed, Soviet Union for 50 years - failed).
